PPI OTC battle
The folks from Interbrand who write the great site BrandChannel wrote an interesting story on OTC brand Prilosec. When Prilosec was switched from Rx to OTC brand, it was taken over by consumer brand Giant Procter and Gamble for a royalty pay to original manufacturer AstraZeneca. From that moment, many other brands made the jump from RX to OTC.
Prevacid, another PPI like Prilosec also made the jump lately, resulting in a marketing battle commented here on BrandChannel.
