The risks of crowdsourcing in pharma
John Mack wrote a great post that sheds some light on a survey by iguard.org that shows what people/patients think of specific drugs. The editor of Pharma Marketing Blog is quick to remind us that surveys like the one done on iguard.org (or any other internet site for that matter) may be easily misinterpreted.
He makes a great case for physicians who spend a lifetime reading and decyphering clinical studies and treating real patients to have a real understanding of which treatment is adequate for which patient.

Adpharm gallery and blog disruptions
As you may have noticed, this blog and the AdPharm gallery have had many down periods lately and we deeply apologize for these disruptions. The good thing is that the disruptions come mainly due to an increase in popularity of the sites. Because of that, we are in the process of moving both sites a new, more robust hosting provider. As you can imagine this transition creates other problems.
Because of the transfer process, the sites and our e-mails for support may be occasionally down, which is why we have suspended new subscriptions for the time being. Current subscribers should be able to log-in without any problem. UPDATE: the transfer is completed and we are back to normal.
If you have inquiries, you can reach us at support@adpharm.net
Subscriptions will be restored once the transfer of both the sites and e-mails have been completed. UPDATE: subscriptions have been restored.

Pharmageddon 2012 – the end of an era for pharmaceutical marketing?
Have you heard of Pharmageddon 2012? If you follow the pharmaceutical industry on social media at all, it’s almost impossible not to. It’s on YouTube, Facebook, Flickr. It has it’s own blog on the Wordpress site, it’s listed on Technocrati, there’s an RSS feed and they’re also on Twitter.
Can we talk about an over-saturation of social media here? Maybe… but it’s certainly an interesting way of promoting the use of those new communications channels readily available to everyone.
Nick Jonas’ SimpleWins with Contour SM
SimpleWins Microsite featuring Nick Jonas.
Bayer Contour blood sugar meters’ partnered with Nick Jonas of the Jonas Brothers in a Social Media effort. Nick Jonas suffers from type 1 diabetes and he lends his popularity to show to other diabetic people that his Contour Blood Glucose Meter helps him live his rockstar life as fully as he would not having diabetes.
Part of the mix to this date, are a Microsite (seen above), 2 print ads, a TV commercial.
Charlie Kimball and Novo Nordisk
Charlie Kimball is a successful race-car driver who was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in 2007. He was forced to stop racing mid-season following this. This elaborate social media marketing effort aims to show diabetes suffers that even with diabetes, they can accomplish great things. Charlie resumed racing in 2008 and continues to claim podiums. Novo Nordisk teamed-up with Charlie in this effort to promote Levemir and Novolog brands of insulin.
This effort includes a Facebook fan page, a YouTube Channel, a Twitter account, a blog and a specific page on Novo Nordisk Care’s Website.
